Lucy Vollbrecht-Büschlepp (born December 20, 1917 in Bocholt ; † October 3, 1995 in Bocholt) was a German artist.

Life

Lucy Büschlepp was born in 1917 as the only child of a municipal surveyor in Bocholt, Westphalia. She completed her school education at the Mariengymnasium / Marienlyzeum Bocholt in 1937 with the Abitur and studied from 1939 to 1941 at the Folkwang School of Design in Essen near Urbach, Schardt, Pieper, Keller and Rüssing. In 1942 she married. The daughter Heide comes from his marriage to Heinz Vollbrecht. She lived in Neuroofen in Mecklenburg until her husband's death in World War II. In 1945 she returned to Bocholt and worked there as a freelance artist from then on. The rebuilding of Bocholt and the subsequent expansion of the city is linked to Vollbrecht-Büschlepp's artistic work in many ways: In and on public buildings, z. B. Mosaics in the break hall of the Euregiogymnasium and the vocational college at the water tower, tabernacle stele, altar table, choir stalls and cloister grids as well as windows of the monastery church of St. Klara, a floor mosaic in the Church of the Holy Cross, the medallion window in the great hall of the historical town hall , the glass pictures of the entrance halls of the Mariengymnasium and the St.-Georg-Gymnasium, all windows of the Mussum church Maria Trösterin. On April 27, 2006, the district committee center renamed the street triangle Osterstrasse / Langenbergstrasse / Südmauer in Lucy-Vollbrecht-Büschlepp-Platz.

On the 100th birthday of Lucy Vollbrecht-Büschlepp, an exhibition was held in the Bocholt City Museum and Euregio-Kunsthaus.

Lucy Vollbrecht-Büschlepp created numerous mosaics and glass pictures. She also made wall hangings, watercolors, mosaics, drawings and collages. Her works shape many churches, public buildings and private apartments, especially in Bocholt, on the Lower Rhine, in the Münsterland and beyond, for example in Baltimore (USA), Osaka (Japan) and Holland. Her works have been shown at exhibitions in Germany and abroad, including solo exhibitions in Apeldorn, Bielefeld (ZIF), Bocholt, Frankfurt (Paulskirche) and Münster, among others.

Awards

In 1983 Vollbrecht-Büschlepp was awarded the bronze city plaque of the city of Bocholt. In 1992 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for her artistic work and for her decades of work in the Association for Home Care and in the Euregio Art Circle.
