Luděk Pachl (born October 15, 1971 in Most ) is a Czech visual artist.

Life

Pachl was born in the industrial city of Most in northern Bohemia and studied at the Bratislava Art Academy. After a three-year stay in Naples , Pachl returned to the Czech Republic in 1995 and began exhibiting his paintings here for the first time.

In 1998 Pachl moved to Berlin on a long-term basis, where he runs a gallery and a Czech specialty shop under the name Tuzex in the Prenzlauer Berg district . This name is an ironic allusion to the former Tuzex retail chain in the ČSSR .

In Berlin's Tuzex, Pachl exhibits his paintings and sculptures under the label Rebel Art , in which he often satirizes the totalitarian past of Czechoslovakia and Germany and takes up well-known motifs from Pop Art . In addition, the artist collects Czechoslovak toys, films and other objects with children's characters such as the little mole , Spejbl and Hurvínek or Pan Tau .
