Ludger Schenke

Ludger Schenke (* 1940 ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and retired professor at the Catholic theological faculty of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . He is the author of numerous works with a focus on the New Testament .

Life

From 1965 to 1966, Schenke was an editor at the Katholisches Bibelwerk publishing house in Stuttgart. From 1966 to 1972 he worked as a research assistant at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, where he received his doctorate in Catholic theology in 1971 and to which he was appointed university professor in 1972. From 1980 to 1985 he was vice president of the university. His research projects included the interpretation of the Gospel of John (1994–1997).
