Ludwig Schunk Foundation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ludwig Schunk Foundation is a private foundation managed as a registered association in Heuchelheim an der Lahn in Central Hesse . Its foundation goes back to the will of the entrepreneur and company founder Ludwig Schunk (1884–1947). The foundation owns one hundred percent of the share capital of the Schunk Group .

tasks

On the one hand, the foundation has to fulfill fiduciary tasks within the framework of Schunk's testament; on the other hand, it is the owner of the capital and manages the group of companies with the support of Schunk GmbH.

The fiduciary duties are specified in the will. The Ludwig Schunk Foundation is also formally bound by the corresponding conditions of the will through the preamble and the purpose of the statutes.

This framework also includes the promotion and support of scientific and social institutions. To promote the next generation of scientists, the X-ray Prize for Natural Sciences is awarded together with the company Pfeiffer Vacuum from Asslar.

The Ludwig Schunk Foundation fulfills the role of capital owner and partner in accordance with the statutory provisions and the statutes. According to Ludwig Schunk's will, the foundation has to manage the assets transferred to it and ensure the continued existence of the Schunk companies. Securing the future desired by the testator has absolute priority. The desired employee participation is only possible if the operating companies have sustained and long-term success. This was a primary concern for Ludwig Schunk, as can be seen from the will:

The Foundation's funds required to fulfill its tasks are generated exclusively from the profits of the operating companies. Therefore, the operating companies have to do everything within their means to achieve and secure reasonable profits. This also includes making the cost and organizational structures competitive.

At the same time, the employees should also share in the profits. This was a central concern for Ludwig Schunk. According to the meaning and wording of the will, however, profits may only be distributed to employees if sufficient funds are available to secure the future.

With all of Ludwig Schunk's social commitment, the focus was always on securing the company's future.

The foundation has to perform its tasks independently. It is only obliged to comply with the statutory provisions, testamentary requirements and the statutes. In her capital owner and trustee function, she controls the work of the operating companies. She is supported in this by the management company Schunk GmbH, whose supervisory board has equal representation.

organs

The bodies of the Association are the General Meeting and the Executive Board. The association consists of twelve members. At least half of them are made up of employees from the Schunk companies.

Through the construction of the foundation, Ludwig Schunk created optimal conditions to secure his life's work after his death.
