About this picture

Heuchelheim an der Lahn (officially: Heuchelheim ad Lahn , until March 16, 2019 Heuchelheim) is a municipality in the central Hessian district of Gießen and adjoins the district town of Gießen immediately to the west . The approximately 8000 inhabitants are spread over the two districts of Heuchelheim (5800 inhabitants) and Kinzenbach (2200 inhabitants). The two places merged on April 1, 1967 to form the community of Heuchelheim.

Heuchelheim is part of the Gleiberger Land cooperation , a stretch of land between Giessen and Wetzlar. The main town is on the Bieber , only about a kilometer from its confluence with the Lahn .

geography

Heuchelheim borders in the north on the municipalities of Biebertal and Wettenberg , in the east on the city of Gießen , in the southwest on the city of Wetzlar and in the west on the municipality of Lahnau (both Lahn-Dill district ). Together with Wettenberg, Biebertal and Lahnau, Heuchelheim forms the Gleiberger Land.

history

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Heuchelheim in 1830:

"Heuchelheim (L. Bez. Giessen) evangel. Parish village; is located on the right bank of the Lahn on the Bieberbach, as well as on the road from Giessen to Gladenbach, and 12 hours from the first place. There are 185 houses and 1139 inhabitants who are Protestant apart from 1 Catholics and 25 Jews, as well as 1 church, 1 town hall, 1 fulling mill and 1 grinding mill; the latter, shaded by a large linden tree, is one of the usual places of entertainment for the Giesser students. - Heuchelheim belonged to the Gleibergian possessions and was later owned in community with other places between Hesse and Nassau, until in 1585 the place came exclusively to Hesse in a division. "

Up to 1967, the then independent communities Heuchelheim and Kinzenbach belonged to different districts. While Heuchelheim already belonged to the district of Gießen at that time, Kinzenbach was in the district of Wetzlar. At the beginning of the 1960s, the two communities formed a special purpose school community, which finally led to the merger to form the large community of Heuchelheim on April 1, 1967. From 1977 to 1979, Heuchelheim belonged to the administratively created city of Lahn as part of the regional reform in Hesse , which was formed from Gießen, Wetzlar and the places in between. Within the city of Lahn, Heuchelheim and Kinzenbach formed the Heuchelheim district. As a last remnant from this time there is still a city bus-like connection between Gießen, Heuchelheim, Lahnau and Wetzlar. From 1949 to 1957 Heuchelheim had a trolleybus line from Giessen, Line 4, which was later operated with diesel buses. It stopped at the stations Bahnhof, Liebigstrasse, Selterstor, Goetheschule, Oswaldsgarten, Hessenhalle, Heuchelheim Ost, Bahnstrasse, Ludwig-Rinn-Strasse and Haag. In 1998, line 4 was merged with bus line 21 to Wetzlar and is now number 24.

Territorial history and administration

The following list gives an overview of the territories in which Heuchelheim was located and the administrative units to which it was subordinate:

Courts since 1803

In the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt , the judicial system was reorganized in an executive order of December 9, 1803. The “Hofgericht Gießen” was set up as a court of second instance for the province of Upper Hesse . The jurisdiction of the first instance was carried out by the offices or registry lords and thus the "Landamt Gießen" was responsible for Heuchelheim. The court court was the second instance court for normal civil disputes, and the first instance for civil family law cases and criminal cases. The superior court of appeal in Darmstadt was superordinate .

With the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Hesse in 1806, this function was retained, while the tasks of the first instance were transferred to the newly created regional and city courts in 1821 as part of the separation of jurisdiction and administration. " Stadtgericht Gießen " was therefore the name of the court of first instance that was responsible for Heuchelheim from 1821 to 1879.

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, the previous regional and city courts in the Grand Duchy of Hesse were repealed and replaced by local courts in the same place, as was the case with the higher courts, whose function was now taken over by the newly established regional courts. The districts of the city and regional court of Gießen were merged and now, together with the towns of Allertshausen and Climbach , which previously belonged to the district court of Grünberg , formed the district of the newly created district court of Gießen, which has since been part of the district of the newly established regional court of Gießen . Between January 1, 1977 and August 1, 1979, the court was called "District Court Lahn-Gießen", which was renamed "District Court Gießen" when the city of Lahn was dissolved. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the superordinate instances of the District Court of Gießen, the Regional Court of Gießen , the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main and the Federal Court of Justice are the last instance.
