Ludwig Becker (politician)

Ludwig Becker (born January 1, 1893 in Landstuhl , † July 21, 1973 in Heiligenhaus ) was a German communist.

Life

Becker worked as a construction worker from 1945 to 1948 and later became the publishing director.

Initially a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany , Becker switched to the Communist Party of Germany in 1921 . Because of this party affiliation, he was imprisoned in a concentration camp in 1933, from which he was released a short time later. After his release, he did illegal party work. In November 1935 he emigrated to the Netherlands, where he also worked as an illegal KPD functionary. He returned to Germany in 1945 and was involved in the rebuilding of the KPD.

In 1947 he briefly belonged to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and was a member of the Economic Council of the United Economic Area from 1947 to 1948 , where he chaired the KPD parliamentary group. Becker took part in the first federal assembly as one of the representatives of North Rhine-Westphalia .
