Ludwig Landen

Ludwig "Lutz" Landen (born November 6, 1908 in Cologne ; † October 14, 1985 there ) was a German canoeist who won an Olympic gold medal in 1936.

Ludwig Landen won the 1936 European Canoe Championships in a four-person kayak over 1000 meters. Together with Paul Wevers , he won the title in the two-man kayak over 10,000 meters at the German Championships. The two of them also won the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin over this distance , where they crossed the finish line 20 seconds ahead of the two Austrians Viktor Kalisch and Karl Steinhuber .

Ludwig Landen, called "Lutz", started for the VKC Association for Canoeing Cöln . He couldn't swim in his life.
