Ludwig Scherhag

Ludwig Scherhag (born May 16, 1953 in Koblenz ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Scherhag, who comes from the Koblenz district of Immendorf , played at TuS Immendorf and then from 1977 to 1980 at TuS Neuendorf . In 1980 the striker moved to 1. FSV Mainz 05 and returned to TuS Neuendorf in 1984 , which had been renamed TuS Koblenz on March 15, 1982 .

On March 20, 1979, he played a game in the German national soccer team of amateurs in Schwenningen against Italy. In the 0-2 defeat, the DFB amateurs were looked after by coach Erich Ribbeck .

With TuS Neuendorf he won the championship in the Rhineland in 1978 and took part in the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga , group south, against Borussia Neunkirchen and FSV Mainz 05. In the DFB Cup of 1979 he was in the 2nd main round in the 2-1 away win on September 23, 1978 in Hamburg against FC St. Pauli on the field, as well as in the 3rd cup main round in the 3-1 home win after extra time in front of 6,000 spectators on December 2, 1978 against 1. FC Bocholt , where he was the acclaimed hero of the day with three goals. In the 1: 4 defeat on April 28, 1979 against Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen , he did not succeed in scoring.

In 1982 Mainz was runner-up behind FC 08 Homburg and therefore took part in the competition for the German amateur championship . After successes against SC Viktoria Köln and Hertha Zehlendorf , the 05er stood in the final against the amateurs from Werder Bremen. The Mainz team won the final in front of 8,000 spectators in their home Bruchweg Stadium on June 17, 1982 with 3-0 goals. Scherhag contributed one and Karl-Helmut Mähn two hits for the new German amateur champion.

In October 1982, Scherhag was voted goal scorer of the month by viewers of the ARD sports show .
