Karl-Helmut Mähn

Karl-Helmut "Charly" Mähn (born October 26, 1960 in Ginsheim ) is a former German football player . The striker played 115 games in the 2nd Bundesliga and scored 20 goals.

Mähn began his football career at the age of nine at VfB Ginsheim , and two years later he moved to the D youth team of 1. FSV Mainz 05 . In 1977 he was in the semifinals of the German championship with the Mainz B-Juniors. With the exception of a two-year engagement at SC Freiburg , he only played as a professional for the Mainz team, which earned him the name "Der loyal Charly". Overall, he was used for the Rheinhessen 504 times, 323 times in competitive games. A foul game by Freddy Hess from Darmstadt , in which the cruciate ligament , inner ligament and inner meniscus tore in Mähn's left knee , ended Charly Mähn's career on March 24, 1991.

Today Mähn works as a financial advisor at a savings bank in Mainz .
