Ludwig von Büren

Ludwig von Büren (born July 3, 1735 in Vaumarcus , † May 21, 1806 in Bern ) was a Swiss military and governor .

Life

He came from the von Büren family and entered the French Jenner Soldier Regiment as an ensign in 1751 . As an officer in the Erlach Regiment , he took part in the Seven Years' War , was wounded near Sondershausen and dismissed in 1788. From 1793 to 1798 he was bailiff in Lausanne , an office in which he showed "little skill". "In February 1798, Büren, as the commander of the Aarau division, occupied the rebellious Aarau without authorization , but then failed to defend Solothurn against the French."
