Büren (patrician family)

The von Büren family is a Bernese patrician family that has owned the city of Bern as a citizen since the 14th century .

Ruf (Rudolf) von Büren received citizenship rights in Bern before 1326. The von Büren temporarily owned power in Mörisried , Münsingen , Ligerz and Signau . Peter von Büren, a member of the Grand Council from 1448, acquired half of the Seftigen rule through his marriage to Christiana von Seftigen , which remained in the family's possession until 1798. David von Büren added the rule of Vaumarcus by marriage . In 1831 Albert sold the property to the Prince of Neuchâtel.
