The Ludwigfall

The Ludwigfall is a waterfall above the Lower Austrian municipality of Lunz am See and connects the Obersee with the Mittersee . The waterfall was named after Archduke Ludwig .

course

The Ludwigfall is fed with the water of the Obersee and offers an impressive sight with a drop height of 60 m. The subsequent torrent flows further into the Mittersee, and from there then into the valley into the Lunzer See . At the time of the snowmelt (spring to early summer), the stream carries most of the water and the waterfall unfolds its full strength, while in midsummer - and especially during extended periods of heat - it noticeably loses its strength.

hikes

The Ludwigfall can be easily reached from Lunz am See. The hike leads past the Lunzer See, and then on well-paved forest and forest paths up to the Mittersee, and then on to the Obersee. The path leads past the Ludwigfall, which can be viewed and photographed from many different perspectives. The path to Obersee leads over 500 meters in altitude , but is also manageable for inexperienced hikers with light equipment.

Experienced mountain hikers can continue from Obersee over the Herrenalm to the summit of the Dürrenstein , from there over the Ybbstaler Alps to the Ybbstaler Hütte , and then the next day over the Wolfsklamm and Lechnergraben back to Lunz am See.
