Air weight meter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An air weight meter is a closed vessel, usually made of plastic or glass, with the help of which the density of air can be approximately determined. For exact determination of the air density , other methods are used. With the air weight meter, the amount of air in the vessel is changed by pumping air in or out and the resulting change in mass is determined with the aid of a scale . In the example of the supplied air, it can then be fed into a cylinder filled with water. The volume of the water displaced in the process corresponds to the volume of the air supplied; this can therefore be easily determined. The air density results from the formula

with the air mass .
