Luis Alfredo Torres

Luis Alfredo Torres (born October 18, 1935 in Barahona , † May 1, 1992 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican poet, journalist and critic.

Torres attended Long Island City High School in New York and studied social communication at the Institute of Journalism in Los Angeles, as well as arts and psychology. He was editor-in-chief of the bilingual weekly El Despertar Americano in California , worked as a columnist and editor for the newspapers El Caribe and La Nación, and was a member of the Sociedad de Escritores Dominicanos and the Ateneo Dominicano. As an author, although much younger, he becomes the lyricists of the Generación del 48 attributed.
