Ruhberg Castle (2012)

Ruhberg Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Ciszycy ) is a castle in Schmiedeberg (Kowary), in the northeastern part of the Hirschberg Valley (Kotlina Jeleniogórska). The castle is located at the foot of the Ruhberg (Radziwiłłówka).

history

The baroque mansion was acquired in 1790 by the Silesian minister Karl Georg von Hoym , who had it rebuilt in a classicist style since 1800 . The landscaped garden created for this purpose was intended to enhance the walk on the Ruhberg (so named by von Hoym). In 1840 the ensemble was supplemented by an alpine farm wing. From 1822 the castle was owned by Luise von Prussia , whose family owned it until 1923.

In 1938 the UFA film Prussian love story about Luise's love for Prince Wilhelm of Prussia was shot there.

After 1945 the castle was used as a vacation home. It has been privately owned since 1990.

description

The castle is a simple building on a rectangular floor plan, covered with a mansard roof and a central risalit highlighted by plaster modification . Some exotic plants have been preserved in the landscape park to this day, about an 18-meter-high American tulip tree and a 200-year-old Weymouth pine . Halfway up the Ruhberg there is an artificial grotto, on the summit itself the remains of a lookout tower.
