Luis Antonio Valdez (born July 1, 1965 in Aguascalientes , Aguascalientes ), also known by the nickname El Cadáver , is a former Mexican football player who played predominantly in midfield .

Life

"El Cadáver" Valdez began his professional career in the 1985/86 season with the second division CD Tapatío , a farm team of the CD Guadalajara , in whose first division team he was included in the following season 1986/87, which he immediately belonged to the squad of the championship .

After five years with Guadalajara, he moved to CF Monterrey in 1991 , with whom he won the Copa México in his first season in 1991/92 . His last professional station was Club León , where he was under contract between 1993 and 1995.

National team

Valdez made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on August 10, 1989 in a 4-2 win over South Korea.

Valdez scored his two international goals on March 12, 1991 against the USA (2-2) and on March 8, 1992 against the Soviet Union (4-0).

The highlight of his national team career was his participation in the soccer world championship in 1994 , in which he played the first half of the opening game of the Mexicans against Norway (0-1). The preliminary round match played on June 19, 1994 was also his last appearance for "El Tri".
