Luis Frías Sandoval

Luis Frías Sandoval (* before 1945; † March 12, 2006 ) was a Dominican choir conductor.

During his time at the Seminario Pontificio Santo Tomas de Aquino, Frías Sandoval founded a choir which later became the Scola Cantorum and finally the Church Choir of San Carlos. During his studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo from 1945, he founded the university choir movement. He received a bachelor's degree in philosophy and literature in 1947 and founded a chair for music reception. In addition, he taught at the Liceo Unión Panamericana for many years .

In 1948 he founded the normal school choirs for boys and girls, and in 1955 the Coro Nacional with the Spanish organist Juan Urteaga Loidi , of which he later became director. In 1967 he won the Rubro Coro with a university choir at the Choir Festival in Chile . On his return he founded La Rondalla Universitaria , a small formation at the university, and over the years there were also choirs from the Ministry of Public Affairs, the Medical Association and the Casa de Francia .
