Luis Gorocito , full name Luis Antonio Gorocito Resende , (born October 5, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.89-meter-tall offensive player Gorocito started his career in the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons in the ranks of the Montevideo-based club Racing . There he played a total of 46 games in the Primera División and scored 18 goals (2012/13: 18 games / 4 goals; 2013/14: 28/14). After the Clausura 2014 he left the Montevideans and joined the Mexican club Necaxa . There he was used 15 times (four goals) in the Liga de Ascenso and twelve times (two goals) in the Copa México until his arrest and subsequent suspension by the club in mid-August 2015 . Following a homicide charge, the continuation of his career is questionable.

Homicide charges

In mid-August 2015, he and his teammate Alejandro Molina were arrested in Mexico after both of them allegedly beat up a young man after an argument and seriously injured him in the process. This should have preceded a harassment of the later victim's cousin by the two soccer players. The young man died on November 3, 2015 as a result of the injuries he had inflicted. At the beginning of December 2015, Gorocito and Molina were charged by the Aguascalientes public prosecutor's office with willful manslaughter with a 50-year prison sentence, while the defense of the two football players invoked the maximum penalty of ten years for brawl and death. In July 2016, Gorocito was still in custody. In September 2016, the state human rights commission suggested that the case should not be assessed as a manslaughter but as a brawl with fatal consequences.
