Luis Ricardo Alonso

Luis Ricardo Alonso (* 1929 in Parres , Asturias ) is a Cuban writer of Spanish origin.

Alonso's father was Spanish and his mother was Cuban. He came to Cuba with his family as a child. After attending school, he began u. a. Study law at the University of Havana . At the university he also made the acquaintance of Eduardo Chibás and joined his Partido del Pueblo Cubano .

Under the leadership of Fidel Castro , Alonso took part in the Cuban Revolution and was then appointed by the latter to the government committee. Alonso later represented his country as ambassador in Lima , Oslo , Bern and London .

After the Cuban Missile Crisis , Alonso began to distance himself from his country's politics and broke completely with Fidel Castro in 1965. Alonso went to the United States and settled as a writer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania .
