Luis de Carroz Villarragut

Luis de Carroz Villarragut (* around 1485, † after 1542 ) was the ambassador of Ferdinand II of Aragon to Henry VIII of England from 1509 to 1514 .

Life

Luis de Carroz Villarragut married Angela Borja Lanzol De Romaní Y Catalá, a relative of Alexander VI. Based on the Treaty of Okyng , Spanish traders in France and England formed a stable trading power around 1500. Ferdinand II participates in the trade in salt from La Mata and Ibiza and Isabella I of Castile invested in ships on the Ruta de Flandes . A Spanish pragmatica (rule) of 1500 banned non-Spaniards from carrying cargo on Spanish ships. As Baile General del Reino de Valencia, Carroz Villarragut was entrusted with the administration of the royal treasures of the Catholic kings . From 1509 to 1514 he was Ambassador to the Court of St James’s .

In 1518 Luis de Carroz Villarragut was Charles V's ambassador to Leo X. In a letter of November 20, 1518, Charles V instructed Carroz Villarragut to Luis Marliano (1463–1521), the Bishop of Tuy , to introduce Leo X. so that he is appointed Abbot of Santa Maria de Alfonte.

In a letter from 1522, Charles V informed Pedro Folch de Cardona , Archbishop of Tarragona (1515-1530) and Virrey of Catalonia (1521-1523), that he had named Luis Carroz de Villarragut the Virrey of the Kingdom of Mallorca .

On February 18, 1543, Charles V ordered an annual pension of 800 gold ducats for Luis Carroz de Villarragut.
