Luise Christiane Halbe (born July 14, 1867 in Kreischau near Leipzig; † March 24, 1957 ; born Heck ) was the wife of the German writer Max Halbe (1865–1944).

Career

Luise Heck was born as the daughter of master blacksmith Christian Gottlieb Heck. In 1890 she married Max Halbe and moved with him permanently to Munich in 1895. The marriage had three children: Robert (* 1891), actor, Anneliese (1894–1986) and Max Waldemar (* 1896).

After her husband's death, she founded the Max-Halbe-Gesellschaft in Munich in 1953 to look after his literary estate.
