Luisentempel at Alexisbad

The Luisentempel is a monument in the Alexisbad district of the city of Harzgerode .

The Monopteros was built in 1823 on a rock plateau above the former Hagenrode monastery at a vantage point along the cliff path between Alexisbad and Mägdesprung . The dome is supported by six Ionic columns cast in the Mägdesprung ironworks . It was named after Luise von Anhalt-Bernburg (1799–1882), a daughter of Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian von Anhalt-Bernburg (1767–1831), who had the first spa facilities built in 1810 and gave the spa town of Alexisbad its name.

Collapsed in 1987, the Luise Temple was restored in 1992 and rebuilt in its original location. In 2008, the city of Harzgerode won the nature park competition with the Luisentempel with the topic "Monuments as hiking destinations".

To the northeast of the temple is the Luis cliff .
