Lukas Clemens

Lukas Clemens (born April 21, 1961 in Düsseldorf ) is a German historian .

Lukas Clemens studied history and German studies at the University of Trier from 1982 and received his doctorate in 1991 with the topic "Trier - A Wine Town in the Middle Ages". From 1993 to 2004 he worked as curator at the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Trier and in this position was responsible for the departments of urban archeology, medieval archeology and post-ancient numismatics. In 2000 he completed his habilitation with the thesis “Tempore Romanorum constructa. On the use and perception of ancient remains north of the Alps during the Middle Ages ”at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Clemens has been Professor of Medieval History and Historical Auxiliary Sciences at Trier University since 2004 .

He is married to the historian Gabriele B. Clemens , who teaches as a professor of modern history and regional history at Saarland University.
