Lukas Handschin

Lukas Handschin (born April 7, 1959 in Zurich ) is a Swiss lawyer and professor at the University of Basel .

Life

Handschin studied Japanese and economics at the International Christian University in Tokyo from 1978 to 1980 . He then returned to Switzerland and began studying law at the University of Basel , which he completed in 1985. He then worked as an assistant to Karl Spiro at the University of Basel. There he obtained his doctorate in 1987. iur. In the following year, Handschin was admitted to the bar and from 1989 worked as a lawyer at Lenz & Staehelin in Zurich, from 1996 at Schumacher Baur Hürlimann. In 1993 Handschin completed his habilitation in Basel and received the venia docendi for private law.

In 2006 he was elected 50% associate professor at the University of Basel, where he has been full professor of private law since 2009. His main research interests are in the law of obligations, corporate law, commercial law, accounting and auditing law and sports law.
