Lukas Schenkel (born April 1, 1984 in South Africa ) is a Swiss football player .

Career

Schenkel played in the position of defender in the 2004/05 season and the 2005/06 season for FC Thun 1898 in Switzerland's first division, the Axpo Super League . In 2004/05 he was used in three games, the following season only in one game against FC Aarau for a few seconds in stoppage time. With FC Thun he reached second place in the Super League in 2005. He left FC Thun in July 2005 and was part of the BSC Young Boys II team from August 2005 to July 2006 . After two years at FC Wil , he moved to FC St. Gallen for the 2008/09 season , with whom he was promoted to the Axpo Super League as a regular in central defense.

In the spring of 2011, Schenkel extended his contract with FC St. Gallen until 2014. In July 2011 he moved to AC Bellinzona in the Challenge League . In 2013 he switched to FC Thun , where he played until the end of the 2014/15 season.
