Lunau (Schalmey)
Lunau was a hamlet in the former East Prussia , Braunsberg district , community Schalmey with (1939) 50 inhabitants; the place is now a desert .
It consisted of nine Hufen (approx. 150 hectares), belonging to an estate and a large farm - both formerly tax-exempt Cologne goods owned by members of a widely ramified farming family called Braun - as well as several associated installs .
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1421 in a document in which the Warmian bishop Johannes Abezier exempted the then owner Claus Lunow from all crowd service in view of the lonely location.
