Luqman Arnold

Luqman Arnold (born April 16, 1950 in Calcutta ) is a British manager.

Life

Luqman Arnold was born in Calcutta in 1950 to a British colonial official in the Indian Civil Service and a Bengali mother. He attended a private school in Oundle in the east of England. He then worked on his father's farm in Australia and also acquired economic knowledge, which eventually led to a degree in economics from the University of London . He began his career in 1972 at First National Bank Dallas . From 1976 to 1982 he worked at the Bank Manufacturers Hanover in New York. In 1982 Arnold joined Credit Suisse First Boston , where he was promoted to head of new business. In 1992 he took a scientific break and dealt with international financial flows. In 1993 he went to Banque Paribas . Arnold joined UBS in 1996 and became Chief Financial Officer there in 1999. After Marcel Ospel became Chairman of the Board of Directors, Arnold took over the position of CEO. After a dispute with Ospel about direction, Arnold left UBS in December of the same year. From 2002 to 2004 he was CEO of the UK bank Abbey National . Today he is the managing director of the investment company Olivant .

Arnold lives in London, is married and has one son.
