Luther Reily

Luther Reily (born October 17, 1794 in Myerstown , Lebanon County , Pennsylvania , †  February 20, 1854 in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Luther Reily graduated from preparatory schools. After a subsequent medical degree and his approval as a doctor, he began to work in Harrisburg in this profession. There he also held various local offices. In 1814 he took part in the British-American War at times as a simple soldier and then as a doctor . He then continued his medical career. Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party .

In the congressional election of 1836 , Reily was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the tenth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded William Clark on March 4, 1837 . Until March 3, 1839 he was able to complete a legislative period in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Reily practiced as a doctor again. He died on February 20, 1854 in Harrisburg, where he was also buried.
