Lutz Kipp (* 1963 ) is a German physicist and university professor . From 2014 to the end of May 2020 he was President of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel .

On April 22, 2020, it became known that Lutz Kipp is no longer available for a second term and is withdrawing his application.

Life

Kipp studied at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel and became a physicist in 1989. In 1993 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD. This was followed by a research stay at Xerox PARC in California. In 1999 he completed his habilitation at the Kiel Institute for Experimental and Applied Physics. Kipp sits on the Research with Synchrotron Radiation Committee . He is Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Helmholtz Center Geesthacht - Center for Materials and Coastal Research .

He was Vice Dean for Research (2006–2008) and Dean (2008–2012) of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at CAU. The Senate elected him President on December 11, 2013. Kipp took up the six-year office on June 1, 2014. Kipp's term of office ended in May 2020, as it became known in advance that he would withdraw from his renewed candidacy.
