Lutz Schröter (born August 25, 1960 in Berlin ) is a German physicist. Since April 1, 2020 he has been President of the German Physical Society .

Live and act

Lutz Schröter studied physics at Bielefeld University and received his doctorate there with work in the field of surface physics and laser spectroscopy . The dissertation was carried out in 1991 on the subject of state-selective studies on recombinative hydrogen desorption . Before he joined the Physical Technologies Technology Center of the Association of German Engineers as a technology consultant in 1992 , he worked briefly at the University / GH Essen .

From 1996 Lutz Schröter held a managerial position in R&D controlling at Grünenthal GmbH in Aachen . He then took over the management of the Saarland Venture Financing Company and later headed the venture division at AutoVision GmbH (now Volkswagen Group Services ) in Wolfsburg . There he was responsible for the acquisition and financing of young technology companies as well as the area of ​​"Mergers & Acquisition" and thus transactions in the corporate sector such as mergers, company transfers, spin-offs and corporate collaborations. Most recently, Schröter held a managerial position at Volkswagen AG, Wolfsburg, mainly in finance and series management.

Parallel to his professional career, Lutz Schröter held supervisory and advisory mandates in various young companies in the bio, IT and material technologies. Lutz Schröter was also a member of the state jury for the start-up competition organized by the Saarland savings banks .

From 2008 to 2012 he was a member of the board of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft eV as a representative for industry and business. After that he was the industry representative in the World of Physics Board of Trustees for several years .
