Luv ' is a Dutch female pop group that had the greatest success in the 1970s and 1980s.

biography

Original line-up 1976–1981

The group was founded in 1976 by the Dutch music producer Hans van Hemert. Together with the composer Piet Souer and manager Han Meijer he wrote the title My Man . They had this sing in 1977 by the red-haired José Hoebee (born April 29, 1954), the blonde Marga Scheide (born February 15, 1954) and the dark-haired Patty Brard (born March 25, 1955). The group Luv 'was founded. My Man was able to place itself in the Belgian and Dutch charts. The successor Dream, Dream was not a success.

In 1978, producer Hans van Hemert was asked to compose the title song for the VPRO music program Waldolala . For this show Luv 'sang the happy UO Me with the subtitle You're Very Welcome in Waldolala . This theme song was the breakthrough in the entire Benelux countries.

Both the successor You're the Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse achieved the highest hit parade listings in the Benelux countries in the same year. Trojan Horse achieved platinum status in the Netherlands and first place on the charts in 14 countries. In Germany, the single You're the Greatest Lover has sold more than 600,000 records. In Spain the single flopped, only the Spanish version Eres mi mejor amante reached first place on the Spanish charts.

Luv 'also celebrated great successes in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. With their first number 1 single in Mexico Si, que si , the Spanish version of Ooh Yes I Do , the breakthrough in Latin America was achieved.

Patty Brard left Luv 'in 1980 and was replaced by Ria Thielsch (born December 25, 1951). This new formation produced the fourth and final album. In 1981 the trio broke up.

comeback

Luv '& Marga Scheide 1989–1993

In 1989, Mercury Records , Luv's first record company, released the CD maxi single Hitpack . With a new record company and a changed formation, i. H. Marga Scheide, Diana von Berlo and the Briton Michelle Gold, followed this with Luv 's first single, Welcome to My Party . A number of other singles were produced and released with this line-up until 1992.

Original line-up since 2005

In 2005 the group came together again in the original line-up to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Hans van Hemert. A multi-part series about the work on the comeback of the original formation was planned for 2006 on Dutch television.

New beginning

Since 2019 the women have been performing again with Chimène van Oosterhout (born February 11, 1964 in Willemstad ).
