Lux International AG is an international family stock company with headquarters in Switzerland and sales companies all over the world. The company is active in the consumer goods sector and sells cleaning equipment and saucepans for household and commercial use through direct sales.
history
The founding of what was then Lux AB goes back to 1901. The company's main products at the time were kerosene lamps for use outdoors. The name of the company was derived from this ( Latin lux 'light' ). The introduction of electric lighting forced Lux to look for new product areas. The result was the introduction of the first domestic electric vacuum cleaner called the Lux I in 1912 . A merger with the Swedish Elektromekaniska AB in 1916 gave rise to the Electrolux company , which, due to the great success of the Lux I, began selling across Europe as early as 1919.
In 1998 Electrolux decided to withdraw from direct sales - known under the Lux brand - and to sell this area to Lux International AG , based in Baar . The corporation now plays the function of a holding company , as parent company, the consolidated Lux International controls and holds interests in a number of international subsidiaries.
Today Lux International is one of the world's leading direct sales companies in the consumer goods sector with sales activities in over 30 countries. At the end of 2009, the Lux Group had around 780 permanent employees and 5,950 specialist advisors worldwide . Sales amounted to 230 million US dollars .
Products
Lux continues its tradition and sells vacuum cleaners and accessories for a wide variety of applications.
The product range has been expanded over the years . In addition to the Lux Intelligence cleaning system , Lux now sells steam cleaners , multi-filtration air cleaners , water cleaners and cooking systems for private households as well as steam cleaners, deep suction systems and floor cleaning machines for the commercial sector.
criticism
At the end of 2012, several media, including WISO and the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung , reported in critical articles about Lux's specialist advisors. For example, completely excessive costs for repairs were mentioned or a second Lux vacuum cleaner was sold to a demented elderly woman. After the reports, Lux apologized to those affected and spoke of unfortunate individual cases.
