Luxury utility vehicle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Luxury Utility Vehicle , or LUV for short, is a particularly off-road luxury sedan . The word is based on Sports Utility Vehicle , a common name for an off-road car .

Models

Hyundai started this new vehicle class in January 2007 with its Veracruz , a seven-seater all-wheel-drive vehicle that was presented for the first time at the Detroit Motor Show . For the time being, it is only available on the American and Asian markets.

Another LUV was developed by EDAG Engineering + Design AG , the so-called EDAG LUV . It is based very much on the new Mercedes GL, but has a greatly changed appearance, such as teak parts in the exterior and interior and a pickup- like loading area as well as a much more comfortable interior. This strategy of using approx. 90% identical parts in this case is considered a new strategy in vehicle construction in order to meet ever faster model changes with less development effort.
