Lyndon Harrison, Baron Harrison
Lyndon Henry Arthur Harrison, Baron Harrison (* 28. September 1947 ) is a British politician of the Labor Party and Life Peer .
life and career
Harrison was born on September 28, 1947. He attended Oxford School and the University of Warwick , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts , then the University of Sussex and the University of Keele . He completed the last two with a Master of Arts .
From 1981 to 1990 he was Councilor of Cheshire County Council . At the North West Tourist Board he was Deputy Chairman ( Deputy Chair ) from 1986 to 1989. From 1990 to 1997 he was Vice President of the Association of County Councils .
Harrison is currently President of Chester and District Parkinson's Disease Society , Vice President of the Cheshire Landscape Trust and Wirral Investment Network . He is also a member of the Trustee of the Genesis Initiative of the Business Senate for Enterprise .
Membership in the European Parliament
He was a member of the European Parliament from 1989 to 1999 . There he represented the constituency of Cheshire West .
Membership in the House of Lords
Harrison was named Life Peer as Baron Harrison, of Chester in the County of Cheshire on July 28, 1999 . Its official introduction to the House of Lords took place on October 26, 1999 with the assistance of Stanley Clinton Davis and Christine Crawley, Baroness Crawley . He gave his inaugural address on November 23, 1999.
He names small businesses, tourism, monetary union, children and the EU as topics of political interest . As states of interest he names the Commonwealth of Nations , the members of the EU and candidate countries, as well as the USA .
He speaks regularly in the House of Lords. From 1999 to 2001 he was Departmental Liaison Peer for Northern Ireland . As a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Armenia , he attended a visit to Armenia in April 2011 . In September 2011 he traveled to Vietnam in this capacity . Schreiber visited Cyprus in December 2011 .
He is also a member of the Parliamentary Humanist Group . He has been a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union since 1999 and of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association since 2007 .
In July 2001, he and his wife were among the signatories of a letter calling on the government to reconsider support for the expansion of religious schools.
