Lyra is a girls' choir founded in 1974 in Kaunas , the former capital of Lithuania . The age of the girls in the choir is between 11 and 18 years. The choir takes part in the song festivals of the city and the republic and in the international girls and women choir festival "AVE MARIA". He had joint projects with the Kaunass Boys Choir Varpelis . The choir participates annually in the Lithuanian choir festival "Baltijos bangelės" in Palanga (1800 participants, 60 choirs) and in the choir festivals "Vilties daina" and "Cantate Domino" in Kaunas. In 2001 he took 3rd place in the Lithuanian high school choir competition “Mes Lietuvos vaikai” and won the gold medal and the Grand Prize at the international competition “Juventus Mundi Cantat” (2001) in the Czech Republic .

The concert hall and rehearsal room is the Kaunas Children's and High School Recreational Palace ( Kauno vaikų ir moksleivių laisvalaikio rūmai ). The choir is directed by the Asta Miknienė (formerly from 1994 by Regina Meilutienė-Bacevičienė). The accompanists are Asta Juršienė and Raimundas Martinkėnas (composer).
