The company Lyra - Lyra pencil factory in Nuremberg provides for over 200 years pencils ago. Lyra is the oldest pencil factory in Nuremberg and has been part of the Italian FILA group (Fabbrica Italiana Lapis e Affini) since 2008 .

history

The founder was Johann Froescheis. He was apprenticed to a gold beater and pencil maker and in 1806 opened a pencil factory in Nuremberg- Gostenhof .

The lyre was registered as a trademark on February 29, 1868 . It is no longer possible to determine why the ancient harp was chosen. It is believed that the high-quality instrument is supposed to represent the quality of the pens.

In the second half of the 19th century Lyra moved first to Klein- and then to Großweidenmühle, and foreign business was greatly expanded. Around 1900 there were around 500 employees for Lyra, the product range included wood-cased pens as well as penholders and mechanical pens.

After the plant was destroyed in World War II , it was rebuilt. Since 1987 the company has been producing in the newly built headquarters in Nuremberg- Gebersdorf .

Current

After 202 years of independence, Lyra was sold to the Italian FILA Group in 2008.

Lyra offers branded products for the kindergarten, school, art and industry sectors. The range includes several product categories: Coloring, Writing, Art & Drawing. Lyra also sells items from the GIOTTO, GIOTTO be-bè, DAS, DALER ROWNEY, simply, MAIMERI and CANSON lines.
