Lysanias of Cyrene
Lysanias of Cyrene , also Lysanias Cyrenaeus , (3rd century BC) was a Greek grammarian.
Like his disciple Eratosthenes , Lysanias was born in Cyrene . Excerpts of his works have been preserved. A text on Greek poets that comprised at least two books is quoted by Athenaios (14, 620c and 7, 304b ) - these are sections on Hipponax and Mnasion . Lysanias must also have dealt with Homeric problems. Aristarchus , too , who built on Lysanias' knowledge, probably thought Lysanias was one of the greats of his craft.
