Hipponax
Hipponax (Ἱππῶναξ) of Ephesus was a Greek satirist of the 6th century BC. Chr.
542 BC During the Persian invasion of Ephesus, he was expelled by the tyrant Athenagoras ; he then fled to Klazomenai . Hipponax to after it caricatured two sculptors and ensured public ridicule of him, with insulting verses iambic , have provided. He used as in his satirical songs and parodies meter his invention Hinkjambus . Hipponax is considered to be the first to spread the epic parody . His reputation as a sharp critic of society lived on in later poetry, such as in the epigram of Theocritus :
Here lies Hipponax, that poet, ashes. - Are you a bad guy; do not approach the grave! But if you are good, and come from bidern parents, sit down and, if you want, fall asleep.
