Andreas Bagordo

Andreas Bagordo (born May 14, 1971 in Rome ) is an Italian classical philologist .

Life

In July 1990 Bagordo passed the Diploma di Maturità Classica at the Liceo Ginnasio Statale EQ Visconti in Rome and studied Classical Philology and Indo-European Studies at the La Sapienza University in Rome from 1990 to 1994 . From March to April 1992 he worked at the Lessico Etimologico Italiano at Saarland University . On July 22, 1994, he was in Rome with Luigi Enrico Rossi and Roberto Nicolai with his dissertation I trattati antichi sul dramma for Dottore in Lettere doctorate and then made community service in the Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome. In August and September 1995 he worked again at the Lessico Etimologico Italiano in Saarbrücken and then went to the University of Göttingen , where he wrote another dissertation with Ulrich Schindel . With the work observations on the language of Terence , he was on 14 July 1998 to the Dr. phil. PhD.

With a habilitation grant from the German Research Foundation , Bagordo went to the University of Freiburg in 1999 , where he received an assistant position on September 1, 1999. On December 20, 2001 , he completed his habilitation in Freiburg, where he remained a research assistant until May 1, 2003, when he was appointed university lecturer. From the summer semester of 2004 to the winter semester of 2004/2005, Bagordo represented the chair for Latin studies at the University of Düsseldorf .

In 2005 Bagordo was appointed associate professor at the University of Freiburg. In the 2006 summer semester he was in charge of the Graecist chair at the University of Bern , from the 2006/2007 winter semester to the 2007/2008 winter semester he was the chair of Latin studies at the University of Greifswald , and from the 2008 summer semester to the 2009 summer semester the chair of Classical Philology ( Latin Studies ) in Freiburg .

Bagordo's research encompasses broad areas of ancient poetry, including the Greek epic, archaic poetry, and Hellenistic poetry. A special focus is the ancient drama. In addition to his qualifying writings on ancient drama theory, the language of Terence and the influences of archaic poetry on Attic drama, he participates in Bernhard Zimmermann's undertaking to publish the fragmentary Greek comedy poets with translation and commentary ( Fragmenta comica ). Since 2011 he has been a research assistant at the research center of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences 'Commentary on Fragments of Greek Comedy' at the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Freiburg.

In addition, Bagordo deals with the philology, literary criticism and poetics of antiquity, with Roman satire, with textual criticism, stylistics and Indo-European linguistics.
