The MÁV series Bbmot were diesel-mechanical railcars of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) for express and express train traffic on non-electrified main and branch lines . The vehicles are a further development of the ABbmot series, which was built in 1955, and have the same essential structure as these vehicles.
history
The vehicles therefore have the same basic structure as the express railcars of the DR series VT 12.14 and are based on the drive system and running gear .
The vehicles, like their predecessors, were intended for intercity traffic with 2 bogie passenger coaches. Of the ABbmot and Bbmot series , a total of 18 vehicles were produced for the MÁV and 2 for the Gysev .
While the predecessor vehicles did not get too good reviews from the Československé státní dráhy , this series was able to hold its own in regular service in Hungary until 1988. The Bbmot 640 has been preserved in working order, the ABbmot 610 has also been preserved.
technical features
Like the railcars of the previous type, these railcars are also diesel-mechanically driven with a 5-speed gearbox. The diesel engine System Ganz type XII Jv 170/240 served as the drive unit, the output of which could be increased to 500 hp at 1,250 rpm. The other equipment corresponds to that of the ABbmot series.
These vehicles did not have a pivot, the rotation of the frame was ensured by the patented slide supports of the Ganz-Romain type. The pivot distance specified in the technical data is therefore the distance between the virtual pivot points.
