MÉKV I No. 2
MÁV Id No. 326 with an extended smoke chamber to reduce flying sparks

The MÁV Id was an express train - Train Locomotive of the Hungarian State Railways MÁV. The locomotives were designed as a lighter version of the MÁV Ia , as their axle pressure did not allow them to be used freely in operations.

The delivery of the lighter and consequently less powerful locomotive succeeded under the construction of the boiler with only 120 m² evaporation heating surface, coupling wheel diameter of 1,724 mm and smaller cylinders. Of this lighter design, MÁVAG , Budapest delivered a total of 32 units in the years 1883 to 1888, whereby the last delivery series of five units already received an extended smoke chamber ex works to reduce flying sparks. In addition, the boiler pressure was increased to 11.5 atm and other details changed (see table). Machines previously delivered were also given an extended smoke chamber as a result of conversion.

The vehicles were given the numbers 195–200, 205–210, 701–707 and 718–722 in the MÁV's 1st designation scheme. From 1891, in the 2nd scheme, they became Id 321–344.

When the MÁV took over the Hungarian Northeast Railway (Hungarian Magyar Északkeleti Vasút, MÉKV) in 1890 , it received eight identical machines, which were classified as I 1 "-8" by the MÉKV. They were initially given the numbers 743–750 (1st scheme) and became MÁV Id 345–352 in 1891.

From 1911 onwards, all machines were designated together with 221.001-032.
