The Hungarian Northeast Railway (UNOB), Hungarian Magyar Északkeleti Vasút (MÉKV) was a railway company in the Kingdom of Hungary .

history

The Hungarian Northeast Railway was built in 1871 as part of the Hungarian government's building offensive. This licensed the following railway lines as early as 1868:

The German entrepreneur Bethel Henry Strousberg was commissioned with the construction, and in 1871 the railway company was founded. The construction of the licensed routes was completed between 1871 and 1873.

  • January 7, 1872: Sátoraljaújhely– Mihályi
  • June 16, 1872: Szatmárnémeti– Királyháza –Bustyaháza
  • August 25, 1872: Sátoraljaújhely – Csap
  • August 28, 1872: Csap-Ungvár
  • November 19, 1872: Bustyaháza – Máramarossziget
  • September 25, 1871: Nagykároly – Szatmárnémeti
  • October 24, 1872: Csap – Királyháza
  • November 20, 1872: Nyíregyháza– Kisvárda
  • December 4, 1872: Bátyú – Munkács
  • February 4, 1873: Kisvárda – Csap
  • October 22, 1873: Mihályi – Kassa

The Hungarian Northeast Railway operated its own routes.

On August 1, 1890, the company was nationalized. The infrastructure and vehicles were henceforth part of the network of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV).
