The Batjowo – Korolewo railway is a main line in Ukraine . It runs from Batjowo to Korolewo , where it connects to the Sighetu Marmației – Ivano-Frankivsk railway . The single-track and non-electrified line is designed with a four-rail track in both standard gauge (1,435 mm) and broad gauge (1,520 mm). The operation is led by the Ukrainian railways , in particular the Lvivska Salisnyzja .
history
The line is part of the railway line opened on October 24, 1872 from Csap (today Tschop ) to Királyháza (today Korolewo ) as part of the entire line from Szerencs to Máramarossziget (today Sighetu Marmației ). This was operated by the Hungarian Northern Railway and became the property of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) on August 1, 1890 . After the end of the First World War, the line came under Czechoslovak administration and was operated by the ČSD . The route was numbered 277 ( Košice - Jasiňa - Stanislawów ).
With the occupation of the southern part of Carpathian Ukraine as a result of the First Vienna Arbitration by Hungary, the Hungarian Railways took over operations on the former Czechoslovak line again.
The end of the Second World War brought with it the annexation of Carpathian Ukraine to the Soviet Union and under the leadership of the Soviet railways all standard-gauge railways were switched to broad gauge, since then the railway has been in broad gauge.
However, in order not to disturb the transport of goods from Slovakia to Romania , the route between Tschop via Batjowo , Korolewo and on to Halmeu in Romania has a four-rail track (broad gauge and standard gauge).
