Bene (Ukrainian Бене , formerly Беня / Benja ; Russian Бэнэ / Bene ) is a place in the Berehove district in the Transcarpathian Oblast in western Ukraine and is located on the Borschawa River .
The place was mentioned for the first time in 1269 as a Bhene and is mostly inhabited by about 1400 inhabitants of Hungarian descent on an area of 1.4 km².
Until 1919 the place belonged to the Empire Austria-Hungary or Hungary , then as part of the Carpathian Ukraine to Czechoslovakia . With the annexation he came back to Hungary in 1938–1945, from 1945 the place is part of the Soviet Union and since 1990 part of the Ukraine. During the Soviet period the village was called Dobrosillja / Добросілля (Russian Доброселье / Dobroselje ), on April 1, 1995 it was renamed to its historical name.
The village has a reformed church and one that is shared by the Roman Catholic and Greek Catholic parishes.
