The MÁV XXIa was a narrow-gauge tank locomotive for Bosnian gauge (760 mm) that was manufactured by the StEG locomotive factory .
history
The first locomotives for the narrow-gauge railways in Hungary were produced by the Wiener Neustadt locomotive factory with the MÁV XXI series and the later MAV 397 series . These machines corresponded to the concept of the narrow-gauge railways of the time.
In 1895, the StEG locomotive factory in Vienna produced a series of converted locomotives of this type (factory type 128), later referred to by MAV as the 395.0 series . The locomotive had the same wheel arrangement as the well-known kkStB U , but compared to this series it had smaller dimensions. As a special technical feature, it had a movable axle bearing in the running axis.
While the MAV 397 was used for the routes around Nagykároly and Kovászna ( Romania ), the 395.0 was used for the Gyulafehervar - Zalatna and Szatmár - Erdeed route in Romania.
The machine 395,002 placed the MAV during the time of World War II on the Borzsatalbahn , where they ended their existence in the 1950s. The stationing dates and decommissioning of the Romanian locomotives is not known. A photograph shows the 395.003 still on the Zalatna - Alba Iulia route in 1969 .
