Mámoa of Pedralonga

The Mámoa of Pedralonga (also called Chan de Castiñeiras) is on the road near the southern edge of the Parque natural de Cotorredondo (also called Parque natural de Lago Castiñeira) on the border between the municipalities of San Tomé de Piñeiro and San Xian de Marín de Arriba, near Marín in the province of A Coruña in Galicia in Spain .

description

The Mámoa has a chamber consisting of ten side stones more than a meter high, which form a polygonal space about 2.5 meters in diameter with an open passage. What makes the dolmen unique are the wavy lines and the schematic anthropomorphic engravings that are preserved on some of the orthostats. The Mámoa was excavated in 1957 by Ramón Sobrino Lorenzo-Ruza.

From the tumulus only about half has been preserved. The rest disappeared when the road was built, which also damaged the chamber, in which some orthostats are missing, displaced or collapsed. The original diameter of the tumulus was about 15.0 meters and the height 1.5 meters. Nearby is the Mámoa do Rei of Castiñeiras.
