Mário Dionísio de Assis Monteiro

Mário Dionísio de Assis Monteiro (born July 16, 1916 in Lisbon , † November 17, 1993 ibid) was a Portuguese writer and painter .

Life

Mário Dionísio studied Romance philology . While still a student, he worked for several magazines that dealt thematically with neorealism . He worked as a teacher at a secondary school and, after the Carnation Revolution, at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Lisbon , where he had studied.

He became known as a literary critic and essayist . From 1941 he published several volumes of poetry. In addition, he was also active as a painter, wrote stories and carried out historical and art-critical studies.
