Eiserfeld men's choir

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 1853 Eiserfeld men's choir is a men's choir in Eiserfeld , a district of Siegen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

In 1853 the male choir was founded by members of a bowling club. In order to give the singing more prominence in a larger choir, the MGV Eiserfeld , the GV Einigkeit Eiserfeld , the Quartettverein Eiserfeld , the Liederfreunde and the Knappenchor Eisenzecher Zug united to form today's men's choir 1853 Eiserfeld.

Through this merger, the male choir developed into an important cultural carrier in the Siegerland . But the choir's sphere of activity has not been limited to the Siegerland for a long time. As early as 1947, the male choir accepted an invitation from the then District President Fries to a concert in the Arnsberg town hall . In the same year, the young choir of the Eiserfeld Boys' Choir was founded under the sponsorship of the men's choir, with Jean Reinartz in the musical direction. On May 13, 1948, the young choir presented itself to the public for the first time on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the 1853 Eiserfeld men's choir.

The choir is holder of the Zelter badge and was successful in 1973, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004 and 2010 master choir in all national performance singing. He is a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia Choir Association and thus also a member of the German Choir Association.

From the mixed choir "Projektchor" the mixed choir "Zeitgeist" Eiserfeld was founded in 2016. He has become an integral part of the Eiserfeld choir scene and it is impossible to imagine the choir scene without it.
