Krešimir Matovina (born June 29, 1992 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian football player .

Career

Matovina began his men's career in his homeland at NK Vrapče Zagreb . In February 2013 he moved to the second division club NK Vinogradar , for whom he was used in nine league games by the end of the 2012/13 season . After the club withdrew his team after the end of the season, Matovina returned to NK Vrapče Zagreb.

For the 2014/15 season , Matovina moved to the second team of 1. FC Union Berlin , which played in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nordost . However, due to the restricted free movement of workers for Croatian citizens in Germany until the end of June 2015 , he was not granted a work permit and was unable to play a competitive game. His contract was then terminated after six months. From January 2015 Matovina was initially active as a test player at BSV Rehden , was signed at the end of the month and received a work permit. In the seasons 2014/15 , 2015/16 and 2016/17 he played 58 games in the Regionalliga Nord and scored five goals.

For the 2017/18 season , Matovina moved to the Regionalliga West for SC Wiedenbrück , for whom he scored three goals in 24 league appearances.

For the 2018/19 season, Matovina moved to the Regionalliga Nord for VfB Lübeck , where he received a contract with a term until June 30, 2020. In his first season he made 26 regional league appearances under Rolf Martin Landerl (19 times from the start), in which he scored 2 goals. While the league narrowly missed the championship, he won the SHFV Cup with VfB . In the 2019/20 season , he made 13 further appearances (12 from the start) in the Regionalliga, in which he scored a goal. The season had to be interrupted and ultimately canceled in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic . By this time, VfB Lübeck had played 25 games and was leader of the table. The association appointed the club to the champions and promoted to the 3rd league , as the northern relay was the direct promoter this season. His contract, which was running out at the end of the season, was not extended, after which he left VfB.
