March (band)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

März is a German band consisting of Ekkehard Ehlers and Albrecht Kunze . Ehlers describes the style of the group as "new folk ".

history

The group's first single, One From The Heart , was released in 2001 on the Berlin indie label Karaoke Kalk . Her debut album Love Streams followed the following year , the title of which referred to a 1984 film of the same name by director John Cassavetes . The pieces were based on guitar, banjo, piano and xylophone samples, which Ehlers and Kunze combined with microhouse rhythms and, in some pieces, with vocals. After positive reviews, the album became the label's most successful album to date. It appeared as one of the best albums of 2002 in the best lists of the Intro (19th place) and Spex (editorial ranked 12th, readers ranked 15). The song Everybody Had A Hard Year contained on the album was used the following year as background music for a TV commercial for the Bahlsen company .

The second album We Are Here followed - accompanied by the EP The River - in 2004.
